Head Coach - James Grindell
James has been leading coaching at Duffield since 2008. He has a Level 5 LTA qualification and 20 years' experience of delivering successful coaching programmes. He is an LTA Primary School Teacher Tutor. James represented Derbyshire at junior and senior level.
Whilst James is accustomed to training juniors and adults to play to high levels, he advises younger members that they shouldn’t take up tennis to win Wimbledon.
'We are keen here to promote tennis as a lifestyle as well as a sport. If a youngster goes on to play as a pro, that’s a bonus but it’s not the be-all and end-all.’
James was the Derbyshire 'Coach of the Year' in 2009.
Our coaching team also includes:
- Performance Coach (Full-time)
Ashley Broomhead, who is a renowned Level 5 PCA coach, an LTA Coach Educator Tutor and an ACE Scheme tutor at Nottingham Tennis Academy. He is a GB veteran international player.
- Club Deveopment Coach (Full-time)
Gareth Griffiths, who is a Level 4 Senior Club Coach with 15 years' experience. He worked previously at West Bridgford Tennis Club and Wrexham Tennis Centre.
- Assistant Coaches
Laura Whiteman (Level 2) and Oli Storr (Level 1)
We encourage our youth members to gain LTA coaching qualifications, providing them with valuable extra-curricular and work experience.
