Hi all
CHRISTMAS EXERCISE
Despite turkey lunches and merriment at this time of year, there are ways of keeping the extra pounds at bay.
If the weather allows, wrap up accordingly and have a game of tennis. For adults, Tuesday evenings are 'Ladies Night', Wednesday afternoons, evenings and Sunday mornings are 'Mixed Social' sessions, Thursday evenings are 'Mens Night'.
If you don't want to join in any of these, just bring along a partner/s and have a game. Non-member adults can play up to 3 times at the club, paying £4 a visit. (£2 for juniors). Alternatively, if you're home alone, use the practice wall on Court 6.
The clubhouse will be closed on Christmas Day but if you're really keen, desperate to get out, or slightly barmy as some of us are, your key fob will get you onto the tennis courts.
The gym has been repainted been given a new carpet, a new tv, sound system (radio or bring your own music). If you want to shed even more pounds, both changing rooms have saunas.
COURTS & GROUNDS
Courts 3, 4 & 5 have been refurbished. The old sand was extracted, the surfaces were brushed and cleaned, new sand has been added. At present the playing surfaces will be sandy but this will be brushed and trodden into the carpet. The bounce is slower. The cost was £6,000, about 18% of the cost of a new surface for 3 courts.
The overhanging trees from Ecclesbourne Avenue gardens have been cut back, so shade beneath them will be less of a problem to the courts. The greenery around the car park has also been trimmed.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
This takes place in the clubhouse on Saturday December 10. Tickets are only £5 each and available from the bar. There will be both a disco and live music.
The clubhouse lounge is being decorated for Christmas, thanks to the Social Committee volunteers.
