Junior Group Coaching Programme
This has now been compiled by James Grindell, an abbreviated version is on the "Coaching & Juniors" page of this website. A full copy of the Programme will be posted to every member shortly.
Assisting James are two other coaches now working at the Club, Tom Rushby and Simon Thornewill. Duffield Adult Teams, Summer 2008
MEN
MEN's 1 win DIV 1, for the 2nd time in the past 3 years.
Men's 1 - 1st in Division 1. Results for our Men's 1 during the last 3 years have ended in: 2006 1st ... 2007 2nd ... 2008 1st . Our congratulations go to the captain, Hudson Oakenfull and all team members who played this year.
Men's 2 - 6th in Division 1. A more difficult year than last year, they did well to avoid relegation and will still be in Div. 1 next year.
Men's 3 - Currently 3rd in Division 3. A good result for them.
Men's 4 - 1st in Division 5. These have always fielded 4 juniors and 2 adults in the team and have done extremely well to win their division. "Well done" to the captain, John Killip.
Men's 5 - 4th in Division 6. A good, mid-table position.
LADIES
Ladies 1 & Ladies 2 - Currently 6th and 7th in Division 1 respectively. Relegation depends on (Watchorn) the bottom club's final 2 games. Both our 1st 2 Ladies teams have had a difficult year and hopefully things will improve for 2009.
Ladies 3 - 1st in Division 3. Congratulations on winning the division by a single game, they ended on the same number of points as Darley Dale but the For/Against game difference was 1 better than DD's.
Ladies 4 - 7th in Division 3, relegated. As stated this was a tough year for most of our Ladies teams as 2 of them had been promoted last year.
MIXED
Mixed 1 - 2nd in Division 1. They very nearly won the Division but DTC remained undefeated this year. Nevertheless it is our highest position for some years.
Mixed 2 - 4th in Division 3. A solid, mid-table position.
Mixed 3 - 2nd in Division 5. An excellent performance, promotion depends on the outstanding results by teams currently below them.
The club's thanks go to all team captains and players who have represented the club this summer.
  Rallying List
A Rallying List is now on the club noticeboard, interested members please add your name & details if you would like to rally, practice, knock with another member.
This will be especially useful to new members.
 MEN'S & LADIES CAPTAINS
The Men's Captain for 2008 is Andy Livingston, and the Ladies Captain is Carol Winfield.
Three further members have come onto the committee in 2008, players Nick Wharam, Mike Harwood and John Beecroft, they should provide a healthy input into the running of the club.
 BEER FESTIVAL & BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS
These went ahead on the evenings of October 18, 19 & 20. Thankfully the drinkers among the 2 clubs made sure that the 6 guest beers were all consumed. Numerous Tennis & Squash veterans returned to the club on Friday evening and on the Saturday, a dance was held and the new dancefloor christened in the renovated lounge. An excellent time was had by all.

Duffield Calendar 2008
For the first time, Duffield tennis is featured in July of the forthcoming Duffield calendar. Photographs are taken by Ashley Franklin who is a Squash member, and "Mr. July" is our treasurer, Hudson Oakenfull. Any modelling enquiries should be channelled through the Tennis Club.
 Floodlights.
The installation of the new tennis floodlights has been completed. Our bottom 3 courts are now floodlit and the other 3 sets of lights have been cleaned & serviced, meaning that "light" availability will not stop club members from playing on winter evenings.
