2009 Results

LADIES CAPTAIN - CAROL WINFIELD

LADIES 1 (Captain Gina Montgomery) played 7, won 3 lost 4, 5th in Div 1 (Div 1 in 2010) A good mid-table finish.

LADIES 2 (Captain Judith Eisenberg) played 6, won 5 lost 1, 2nd in Div 2 (Div 1 in 2010) A very successful season, the team ended on the same number of points as the winners Lloyd's, but came 2nd on Set Difference.

LADIES 3 (Captain Marianne Dammer) played 6 lost 6, 7th in Div 2. The team had been promoted last year so the 16 ladies that participated had fun along the way, but the results mean that they will be in Division 3 again next year!

LADIES 4 (Captain Sue Harwood) played 7, won 5 lost 2, currently 2nd in Div 4 (Div 3 or 4 in 2010) The team had an enjoyable season and Sue drew on the support of many players. Play took place in heat wave, flood, gale and general drizzle, which made for an interesting time! Promotion depends on other matches still unplayed.



MIXED 1 (Captains Gina Montgomery & Geoff Cook) played 4 won 4. Two postponed matches, could win Div 1! DTC still to play, good luck to the players of Mixed 1.

MIXED 2 (Captains Linda Harrison & Andy Fairhurst) played 6, won 3 lost 3, 4th in Div 3 (Div 3 in 2010) A good mid-table finish.

MIXED 3 (Captains Janet Horsley & Stephen Fleet) played 6, won 3 lost 3, 3rd in Div 4 (Div 4 in 2010) A good mid-table finish.

WELL DONE & many thanks to all our captains and players, we hope everyone had an enjoyable season of tennis.

The Club Box League has become a mainstay of winter tennis. Over 30 ladies play in these matches and the league welcomes both new and old members. Details on the club noticeboard.

There are very active ladies' social groups and these play twice a week. All styles, ages and levels are catered for and one of them includes one of the club's longest standing female members, well into her 70's and a member of Duffield since 1960.





  Ladies Night at Duffield is on Tuesdays where ladies can turn up for doubles, starting at 6.30. The new lights on the bottom 3 courts make a big difference to court availability. There is also the opportunity for play on Social Night (Wednesdays) and Sunday mornings Doubles.
