COURT 7 Being Re-surfaced
The surface of court 7 has been too dangerous to play tennis on for the past 3 months.
The court has been closed and the net taken down.

![]() Head Coach – James Grindell – 07968 058383 James has represented Derbyshire at both junior and senior level, and coached tennis for 15 years. In 2003 James gained the Level 5 (TDA) qualification, at Duffield he makes sure the coaching team encourages more people to play tennis, while talent is developed and standards improve.
Performance Academy Coach - Simon Thornewill
Simon has represented Derbyshire for the last 12 years and competed at the highest level for Great Britain. He passed a 4-year scholarship for Tennis at the University of Indiana State in America, graduating with a business degree. Simon has won various tournaments around the world and played for England at Wimbledon. A DCA level coach, Simon will soon be taking his CCA qualification.
Duffield is an accredited Mini Tennis Centre, Tennis Clubmark was achieved in 2008 and the coaches are striving to ensure the club reaches Satellite Status in 2009.
![]() Performance Academy Coach - Tom Rushby
Tom has recently turned to Tennis Coaching after playing as a professional tennis player on the ATP circuit for 5 years. Tom was number 1 in Britain at U-18 and number 9 in the world at U-18 singles. He partnered Andy Murray at doubles, reaching the Wimbledon junior doubles semi-finals with him. They played in all four junior Grand Slams. As a senior, Tom went on to reach 572 in the world and 200 in the world for doubles. Tom will be taking his DCA very shortly, followed by his CCA.

Mini Green WINNER Noah Fellows Mini Tennis Pre School 3 -5yrs. Introduction to Mini Tennis.Working on coordination skills, movement, racket skills and basic games in a fun environment. Mini Tennis Red 5 – 8yrs.At this early stage, children are introduced to the basics of the game. They start developing the core skills of movement and coordination, take part in lots of fun activities and play short matches and team competitions. Mini Tennis Orange 8 – 9yrs. At the second stage of Mini Tennis the emphasis is on further development. Children learn new shots and techniques to help them rally on a bigger court. Competition includes slightly longer matches. Mini Tennis Team – Squads for players who want to play more than one hour a week, develop match play skills, tactics and willing to play tournaments and for the teams. Mini Tennis Club Tour – Weekly Mini Tennis tournaments. Red, Orange and Green run on alternate weeks. U12 / U14 / U16 / U18 Development – Development groups for players who play one or more hours a week. Sessions will include work on the four fundamentals (Technique,Tactics,Physical,Mental) plus matchplay. Players will be encouraged to obtain a rating and develop at their own pace.
Match Play (U12 / U14 / U18) – groups for supervised matchplay. Box leagues, N.C.L. practise etc. Tactical coaching along with doubles teamwork.
Performance / Academy Squad (13 – 18yrs) – Performance Academy Squad is an invitation squad only. Working on basket drills, fitness, matchplay, world tour standard hitting.
