Facilities

clubhouse 10Duffield Lawn Tennis Club has some of the best playing and social facilities in the County. We have 7 all-weather courts and a recently refurbished clubhouse.

The clubhouse is shared with Duffield Squash Club. The subsidised bar and lounge was refurbished in 2007 – 2008. It has a flat-screen television, music system, pool room, fitted kitchen and balcony viewing area over the courts. It is one of the most modern and well-presented facilities in the area and can be hired for parties and functions.

Entry to the courts, clubhouse, changing rooms and gym is now by electronic key fob. All new members over 10 years old will be provided with a key fob.

James Grindell (our coach) now runs the tennis shop in the summer months supplying a range of tennis sportswear, shoes, raquets and balls. A restringing service is also available.

Courtscourts

Courts 1 & 2 are loose-pile carpet filled with sand. The bottom 3 courts (3, 4 & 5) are also carpet but as they were not laid at the same time as the top 2, the playing surface is therefore slightly different. The carpet pile is tighter so the ball moves faster. All club league matches are played on these 3 courts as the 3 playing surfaces are identical. The cage (Court 6) is the same surface as courts 3, 4 & 5.

Court 7 has been relaid recently with artificial clay. This again is carpet but with a very loose, curled pile and covered with lots of special sand. When dry it plays almost identically like a clay court. It is the same colour and appearance of clay, the ball "sits up" and is slower.

Court 7 needs to be booked prior to playing (booking sheet on the noticeboard) and brushed by hand after players have finished their game.

Floodlights are available (coin-operated) on all courts except court 6.

Changing rooms

Changing rooms

Both the men's and women's changing rooms have recently been refurbished. They each have showers, toilets and sauna. Entry is by key fob.

Gym

Duffield Squash Club provide a gym which is open to all tennis members over the age of 16 following an induction. A small charge is made for use - members buy a stamp and stick it in the bookings folder before each session. The gym includes running/walking machines, rowing machines, cross-trainer, wave machine, multi-gym, free standing weights and a number of air resistance machines. It has recently been refurbished.
